OUTSKIRTS - Passport To Northbridge

A melting pot for fashion, art, music, design and super tasty Asian food, Northbridge is a creative hub smack bang in the middle of Perth, and on Sunday, September 25, the folks at On William and the Perth Fashion Festival will celebrate everything the area has to offer with Outskirts. Packed fuller than a Dim Sum restaurant on a sunny Sunday morning, the Outskirts program is busting at the seams with awesomeness, with over 100 things to see and do between 10am and 4pm on September 25.
The first move you should make on your Outskirts adventure is to pick up an Outskirts passport, which is a guide to exactly what’s on and where. Download your own copy at onwilliam.com.au, then let the fun begin! As always, the On William team is sweetening the deal with a set of free collectable pins to be picked up along the way, check out your passport for details on where to find them.
On the big day the State Theatre Centre Of WA will host a number of stalls, exhibits and performers, including a costume sale by Black Swan State Theatre Company, Adapt And Adopt - an exhibition of fashion, textiles and jewellery design by Curtin University graduates, plus market stalls dishing up goodies from Megan Isabella, Buttonologie, Katyjane Designs, Sera Kim, Truso, Libby Edwards, Peppermint Milk and Michael Lombardi. There will also be a range of toe-tapping performances on show for Outskirts travellers, including a dancing extravaganza by the Hullabaloo Hoppers at 2pm and 2.50pm; a set by Alex Giles at 10am and 3.15pm; and ukulele comedy by Saxon and Ashley and 10.45am and 2.15pm (expect covers of Lady Gaga, The Strokes and Cee-Lo Green).
Wander from the State Theatre into the Perth Cultural Centre to discover more expressions of creativity with Pimped, an urban art installation by Lonely 8-Bit Heroes; Slut an installation by Little y Theatre at the Blue Room; and The Young And The Restless at PICA Bar, an exhibition of conceptual garments with a fashion parade at 2pm. Tickets for the show are $15 on the door.
There’s also the Dusty DFaced pop up shop to check out, the ReStyle caravan and campsite to peruse, the Generics pop up shop, a Sneaker Swapmeet plus heaps of other bits and bobs to keep you entertained all afternoon.
While out and about, don’t forget to pop in to Northbridge retailers such as Oh Henry Vintage, Wild Lily Empire, Outré Gallery, The Butcher Shop, Tú Rummage, Fi & Co and Red Stripe to check out installations and wares from local designers such as Miss JamJam, On A Whim, Kashen Jewellery, She Seldom Blushes, White Square and KC Wonder.
Whether you’re a fashion fiend, an art afficianado, a muso or anything in between, you’re certain to find something to tickle your fancy at Outskirts.
