FREMANTLE FESTIVAL
Port Of Call The Fremantle Festival runs from Friday, November 18, ’til Sunday, December 4. To find out what’s on and when, head to fremantle.wa.gov.au/festivals. A celebration of the personalities, places and performers that call Fremantle home, the Fremantle Festival kicks off in grand style this week, offering up more exhibitions, shows, food and fun than you can poke a convict at. Ahead of the Festival’s launch this Friday, X-Press takes a look at some of the must-see events and attractions on offer.
Freo Tweed Ride Dapper gents and vintage vixens will take to the streets of Fremantle on Saturday, November 26, for the Freo Tweed Run. Frock up in your vintage best and head down to the Leighton Beach picnic area at 10am, to join those with the need for tweed, as they embark on a leisurely cycle to Clancy’s Fish Pub in Freo. Once the ride wraps up, an afternoon of entertainment will keep punters amused with music, food, circus performers plus plenty more.
Projections On High High Street will play host to the uber awesome crew from VJ Zoo during the Fremantle Festival as they present Projections On High, a series of large scale projections that will light up beautiful old buildings with artwork inspired by Freo’s nautical history. Running from 7.30-9.30pm from Thursday, December 1, ’til Sunday, December 4, Projections On High will inject the iconic strip with lashings of colour, and is definitely worth a look-see.
Fremantle Coffee Festival If the smell of freshly roasted coffee gets your heart racing then you won’t want to miss out on the Fremantle Coffee Festival, which is set to invade Market Street and Freo’s iconic cappuccino strip on Sunday, November 20, between 10am-5pm. There will be demos, tastings, food, plus fun for the young and old.
Bazaar Regardless of whether you’ve been naughty or nice, there will be plenty of great gifts on offer for savvy shoppers at the Fremantle Arts Centre’s Bazaar. Dishing up art, craft, jewellery, fashion, home wares, plus plenty more, the Bazaar will open for business on Friday, December 2, from 5-10pm, continuing over the weekend from 9am-5pm on Saturday, December 3, and Sunday, December 4. Entry is $2 and kids under 12 get in free. Vanity Case Garments created by graduating students from Challenger Institute Of Technology’s fashion diploma course will take centre stage at Prindiville Hall on Wednesday, November 23, in a spectacular show entitled Vanity Case. A ‘punk cabaret’ show, Vanity Case will showcase students’ graduating collections, which are innovative and push the boundaries of contemporary fashion. Tickets can be purchased by emailing
