INJURED NINJA
Redeemer/Skylazer
Remixed
Heartless Robot Productions
The dark and twisted sounds of local experimental rockers Injured Ninja have been injected with creative juices from around the globe on their latest EP.
After a more than impressive launch of their debut album Injured Ninja Vs Skylazer earlier this year, there’s been no rest for the wicked. Redeemer is the newest single to come from the energetic four-piece and with it comes 11 remixes of the aforementioned debut. The enlisted local artists who’ve remixed are once again tribute to the quality of musician’s west side, such as Kit Pop, Ylem, Tomas Ford, French Rockets and Mathas, to name just a few. Redeemer sees Japanese avant-guard noise artist Harico lend a hand on vocals and guitarist/vocalist Steven Hughes put together an accompanying video to melt minds. The single is full of tribal drums, punchy guitars and distinctive vocals of Dominic Pearce… and is guaranteed to be spirited live. For standouts from the 11 bonus tracks, one can’t go past local MC Mathas’ interpretation of Puppies In Fish Tanks, he’s taken the best elements of the original and created something fresh, plus the production is slick. He represents everything right about remixing. Ylem’s rework of Golden Top Mountain Journey is another goodn’, as moody reverb soaked basslines float under tinkering beats which work well with Pearce’s vocals. Basically if you crush on the Ninja, then get your hands on this latest release.
