Michael Paolino knows at least two things about music. That like fashion it is ever changing, and that you should always wear black. Husband is the new project for the former Luna Parade leading man. Where Paolino’s previous band used to channel the essence of Interpol into their sound, Husband are clearly more enamoured with current go to artist The National.

Husband is said to be inspired by Paolino marrying young, with sprawling emotive tunes being the result. Opening lines of Willow Tree find Paolino’s deep voice sounding affected and forced, but by the time he hits chorus his familiar croon is hitting the expected mark.
Ordinary is gaining attention from community radio. It is the jewel in the crown of this outing with a swelling chorus dripping with heartache around rolling drums and tidy guitar lines. When trying to add a bit more venom to the bite on Invitation Husband move away from their strengths but balance is restored with Come Home.
Paolino wears his influences readily on his sleeve, but with Husband he has found the perfect partner.
